FBC Gallatin,
There is indeed mystery when we think about the future, but the Bible pulls back the curtain of the unknown and provides us a vision of the future set forth by a sovereign God who knows and holds the future in His hands. And this vision is exactly what we are going to be seeing at FBC Gallatin starting in October and continuing through the holidays as we turn from Matthew 23 and the showdown with Jesus and the religious hard hearts, to his Mount Olivet end times sermon he preached right after leaving the temple.
It is popular to say that this vision of the future is especially needed in our day; however, as we will see from Jesus’ sermon, this vision was needed for Christians from the earliest time of the church even while Jesus was still on earth with his disciples. To be prepared about what to expect, and to know how to navigate life in the world as Christians, Jesus gave this very practical and enlightening sermon not only about the temple that he was just leaving and its future desolation, but also about the end of the world.
Prepare your hearts to see what King Jesus said about the future, and be prepared to apply his serious exhortations to the way you live now in light of the future. I will include the 10-part outline below so you can be reading ahead and preparing your hearts to encounter King Jesus’ Olivet Discourse!
I also want to point everyone’s attention to the lady’s bible study through the book of Habakkuk starting on October 15th meeting at the Sidebottom’s home! This should be a wonderful opportunity to dive into God’s Word and connect with and get to know better those who are attending. We will also be starting our co-ed Fall 2025 semester of our Discipleship Table Talks on the topic of Union with Christ going through Paul Miller’s book titled “J-Curve: Dying & Rising with Jesus in Everyday Life” and will also being going through counseling and discipleship videos on idolatry as well as marriage, divorce, & remarriage. Our morning series through the Olivet Discourse will pair well with our Theology talks portion of our table talks as we are now all the way to the end of our R.C. Sproul theology book dealing with the topic of Eschatology which is about the end times as well.
Please pray for me as I continue to prepare to preach through this very important and challenging section of Scripture. Also, please pray and prepare your hearts to see what God’s Word might reveal in the next few months to change your life and thinking in light of the return of Christ and the end of the world.
Sincerely,
Pastor Daniel Pelichowski
