FBC Gallatin,
The end of another school year is such a busy time for so many in our church and I want you to know that I am praying for you as you come to the end of a great year of learning, significant milestones, and calendar packed activities. It’s hard to believe that the group of graduating seniors were still in Middle School when our family came to Gallatin four and a half years ago! And of course, the end of this school year including graduation and all its festivities is especially jam packed busy for the families with soon to be graduates.
Well done students making it to this huge milestone graduating high school, and well done also parents for your instrumental role in the whole education and life process in your children’s lives! I’m praying that you are able to soak up all of this time together while thanking God for all that he has done and all he is doing in your lives and futures!
And relating to the future, whether you are a student about to graduate with a lot of unknowns ahead, or a parent about to watch your child graduate with a lot of unknowns ahead, my encouragement to you both is the same. Whenever we might be unsure of the future, and are tempted to get overwhelmed or even when we get in over our heads with worry or anxiety; Jesus’ wise and realistic counsel shines forth in the Sermon on the Mount.
He says that he knows we will get anxious, and that tomorrows anxieties will await us, but even in light of all the unknown worries, he encourages all of us in Matthew 6:33; “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” So, my counsel to all new graduates and their families would be just that: to seek the Kingdom first in all you do and plan knowing that God’s Kingdom is primary, and that everything else flows out of a Kingdom minded position that Jesus counsels all believers to have and keep before their minds.
In fact, that counsel is simply Jesus’ counsel not only for all graduates and their parents, but to all believers everywhere so this is a reminder to our whole church to prioritize seeking first the Kingdom of God that orients our lives around rock solid hope and truth! Let us all seek first the King and His Kingdom!
Sincerely,
Pastor Daniel Pelichowski
