FBC Gallatin,
Happy New Year FBC! With a new year comes another fresh opportunity to make plans to
connect with God’s Word and read Scripture intentionally throughout the year. For over half a
decade now, I have been encouraging us all in the January Newsletter to take up God’s Word
and read because I know how much we need it, even if we sometimes forget.
Remember that Jesus tells us that the Bible is the spiritual food and nourishment (Matthew 4:4) that we need to give us a grounding and foundation for the Christian life. And Paul tells us that the Bible is the only God-breathed resource that there is (2 Timothy 3:16), so it is of utmost
importance to read it and heed it to grow and to find direction from God Himself.
Let’s be honest, we consume a lot of information throughout the year from so many sources
like social media, TV, or our favorite streaming platforms. Yet only one source of information is
God-breathed, and that very same source is meant for our daily spiritual nourishment and
sustenance. Pairing together the truth that we cannot live on bread alone but every Word of
Scripture with the fact that the Scriptures have the power and authority of God himself, means
that Scripture intake in 2026 should be the top of our resolution lists for a good reason!
So once again, I encourage us all again to take up and read it regularly throughout the week, come to church hungry to hear it preached weekly, and share it with your family and friends, co-workers and neighbors! Even if they don’t know it yet or realize it at the time, the Bible is the only God-breathed and spiritually nourishing resource there is, so the more we can connect with it ourselves and connect others with it in 2026, the better!
