FBC Gallatin,
Jesus Christ is the most significant person who ever lived because he is the solution to all mankind’s biggest problem of sin and death. The fact that we are born and then die due to sins consequences means that we must have a solution outside ourselves to this most pronounced problem for humanity. What is that solution? John 1:14 is our solution: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father full of grace and truth.”
The Word, or the divine logos is the Son of God full of grace and truth come down to the world to redeem us from our problem of sin and death. In the incarnation, God the Son took on full humanity and became a human being to live amongst us. The fact that God would become human is unthinkable, and the fact that he would do that by willingly being born as a human baby child in a fallen world seems so beneath God, but yet the Word became flesh to live or dwell with us!
The fact that God would come to us means that God values us enough to go through all of the condescension, humiliation, suffering, and hardships that come with being born in a sinful world with sinful people who do sinful selfish things. The Son would be born to utter chaos and opposition and a wicked king Herod wanting to kill him right off the bat. But then the Son, the Word made flesh would also later be ridiculed and attacked and sought after to be put to death later as well which would end ultimately in his crucifixion at the hands of opponents who wanted him dead and got their wish.
Do you see how intentional and loving the incarnation actually is? The fact that the Word would become flesh with all this suffering ahead should remind us this Christmas how much God really does love you if you trust in His Son Jesus Christ! We know and experience the glory of the Godhead in Christ in his earthly life like no one has ever experienced before! God became man and dwelt among us! He was born to live and die and reveal the glory of God to us in a way like never seen before! Remember all that God has provided for us in the birth and incarnation of Christ this season because it’s truly glorious and hope giving indeed. For if God would give us his only Son, to actually live with us and then die for us, then that means God greatly loves us in ways we can hardly imagine or comprehend. Increase your love for God this Christmas season by meditating and thanking Him for the wonderful glorious Savior Jesus Christ!
Sincerely,
Pastor Daniel Pelichowski
